The FlexFTP client can be started from within the FlexTerm terminal emulation program using the FlexFTP button on the Home ribbon tab, or from the Windows Start button under the FlexTerm program group. The FlexFTP Client supports SSL (FTPS) and SSH (SFTP) secure file transfer.

FTPS provides secure file transfers through the use of the Secure Sockets Layer FTP protocol, and encrypts the control and/or data channels. FlexFTP implements FTPS according to IETF standard RFC 4217 Securing FTP with TLS.

With Explicit TLS/SSL selected, the FlexFTP Client connects to a standard FTP server on port 21 and begins a non-encrypted FTP session as it normally would, then requests that SSL security be used through the AUTH TLS command and performs the necessary SSL handshaking.

FlexFTP also supports SSH File Transfer (SFTP), which relies on the SSH protocol to provide secure file transfer.

FlexFTP fully adheres to the IETF standard RFC 959 File Transfer Protocol specification.
