The following instructions will assist with configuring FlexFTP for first time use:

Create your first FlexFTP Workspace and Site

  1. Either click the FlexFTP button from the FlexTerm File Transfer ribbon group found on the Home ribbon tab, or from the Windows Start button, locate the FlexTerm program group, press to expand, then select the FlexFTP application to start.
  2. The first time you start FlexFTP, a Local Computer site tab will display.
  3. Press the upper half of the Site Manager button to open the FlexFTP Site Manager.
  4. If existing FTP sites exist, press the Connect button after highlighting a site to add it to the current workspace and attempt to connect.

Note: FTP sites are shared with the native FlexTerm FTP user interface, so any site files that were configured using FlexTerm will also be available to the FlexFTP Site Manager.

  5. Otherwise, if no sites currently exist, choose the New button to create and configure one.
  6. Enter the Host Name or IP Address, Host Port and any additional configuration parameters required by the FTP host.
  7. Press the Connect button to add the new site to the current workspace and attempt to connect.

Note: the above procedure will automatically create the default workspace file named FlexFTP.awf. Subsequent launches of the FlexFTP application will, by default, open the FlexFTP.awf workspace with any sites saved to the workspace opened.

Quick Connect

To quickly enter FTP host information and connect without the need for configuring a site in Site Manager, use the Quick Connect ribbon group found on the Home ribbon tab. Simply enter the Host Name or IP Address, then optionally enter Port, Username, Password and Host Type. Press the Enter key on the keyboard or the Start Connection button on the ribbon to open a temporary site tab and attempt to connect to the FTP host. If Username and Password are not provided, user is prompted for them.

Connecting FlexFTP Sites

Any of the following methods may be used to start a FlexFTP workspace, containing one or more FTP sites:

From FlexTerm
Press the upper half of the FlexFTP button on the File Transfer ribbon group found on the Home ribbon tab to launch the default FlexFTP workspace named FlexFTP.awf. Optionally, press the lower half of the FlexFTP button to select an existing FlexFTP workspace from the drop-down list.

Windows Start Menu
From the Windows Start button, locate the FlexTerm program group, press to expand, then select the FlexFTP application to start. This will automatically start the default FlexFTP workspace file named FlexFTP.awf and any sites configured to open within the workspace.

Windows Explorer
Navigate to the FlexTerm install folder, which by default is C:\Program Files\FlexSoftware\FlexTerm\ and double-click the file FlexFtp.exe.

Specific Workspace
Once you have one or more FlexFTP workspace files created, you may open these directly by double-clicking the workspace file name, for example FlexFTP.awf.

Save Workspace Shortcut to Desktop
Use the File >Save Workspace>Save Workspace Shortcut to Desktop menu command to create a shortcut for the current FlexFTP workspace. Double-click the shortcut to start that specific FlexFTP workspace.

Multiple FlexFTP Sites
After you have created your first FlexFTP workspace, additional sites may be added using the Site Manager to create and configure the site. Then select File>Save Workspace to save.
